My English School is operated in and around Gifu City, Japan. Founded in 1994, MES has continued to provide quality education to children of all ages through the integration of fun communicative play and critical reasoning through the Steiner education philosophy.

MES is one of the largest providers of conversational English education to kindergarten and primary school learners in the Gifu area. In order to maintain this position in the community, we focus on educational excellence and the professional development of our instructors.

 

 

Job Description

 

My English School seeks to employ energetic native English-speaking individual for ESL language teaching for children. The age of our students ranges from 3 to 15 and lessons take place both in classroom and in after-school lesson environments.

Employees are required to drive on a daily basis so an easily obtainable international driver’s license will be required. Teachers work in pairs (Japanese and foreign teachers) and are never required to speak Japanese in or out of class. Some office work is required (lesson planning, material preparation and occasional meetings).

 

Hours:

 

Monday – Friday (schedules vary from day to day but generally start around 10am and finish between 6 and 8pm).
We also have very occasional Saturdays events and an annual 3-day summer camp in July.

~19 teaching hours per week (up to 40 total with office hours). The work is comprised a series of 15 or 20 minute long English performance/skits in the morning and 1-4 45 minute long classes in the afternoon or evening

 

Contract and VISA:

 

Contract is for one year with annual option to renegotiate or renew. My English School provides visa sponsorship.

We secure an apartment close to our office and can provide you with a bike and the use of a car. Rent and utilities are deducted from your pay (rent does not exceed 50,000 yen per month)

 

Requirements:

 

  • Native English speaker
  • 4-year degree from accredited college or university
  • Driver’s license in home country (valid for more than one year)
  • Valid passport
  • High energy, friendly personality, and a willingness to play with children
  • Good confident English communication skills
  • Punctual and professional
